City Girl, County Boy

The Year 6 students have started to read books in English. We are doing reading sessions on Friday afternoon.

First, they read the book by their own and do the reading comprehension activities. Next, we read it again all together to see which words and expressions are unfamiliar.

The first book they have read is called "City girl, country boy", and it is about two cousins, a girl and a boy. The girl lives in the city and her cousin Tim goes to visit her. Then, the girl goes to the country to visit Tim.

The students have learned lots of new vocabulary related to the city, the country and the activities we can do in both places.

Good job!

There is - There are

In Unit 4, the Year 6 students are learning to use the structures "There is" and "There are" in affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences.

To learn it better they have been playing a guessing game in pairs. One member of the pair had to make a picture using the cards provided and the other member had to make questions to build up the same picture. Then they change roles.

Is he...?

In Unit 3, the Year 4 students are learning actions: running, swimming, jumping, walking, riding a horse, climbing a tree, throwing a ball and catching a ball.

To practice these structures they have been playing a guessing game. In pairs they have to guess what the boy in the picture is doing by asking: Is he walking?, Is he jumping?, etc.
