The Tower Game

The Tower Game is a fantastic activity to reinforce vocabulary and grammar structures in all year groups.

With Pre-primary students I use it in 2 different ways: either I say a word and they have to pick the correct flashcard or I show them a flashcard and they say the word.

In the second picture, the Year 4 students are playing to learn how to describe people and construct affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences.

To play, I show a flashcard to a student, and he or she has to say the correct sentence in order to get a glass to make the tower.  

If I say "affirmative" they have to say "She/He has got (curly) hair; if I say "negative" they have to say "She/He hasn't got (short) hair"; and if I say "interrogative" they have to say "Has she/he got straight hair?"

The students take turns to say the sentences and add a glass and a card to the tower, to see how high they can go.

They love this game, and they have lots of practice in a funny way :)

Let's go to the theatre

Today the whole school had the opportunity to watch and participate in an English play.

Pre-primary, Year 1 and Year 2 watched "Busy bee", a funny story of a bee and a birthday cake.

Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 watched "The time machine", a story about a cavewoman that travels in time to the 21st century.

We've had a great time!

 The Pre-Primary students have been enjoying the story of "Spot's first Easter".

After that, they have been playing with some colourful Easter eggs.

Go Away, Big Green Monster

The Pre-Primary students, 3,4 and 5 years old, are revising the parts of the face vocabulary. To do so, we are using the book "Go Away Big Green Monster":

After reading it together we play with the story props. I say a part of the face and the children put them in the right place, and after that they take out the part of the face that I tell them. 

They love to see how the monster appears and disappears:

Go Away Big Green Monster, and don't come back until I say so!

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?

The 3, 4 and 5 years old students are working on the book "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?". It's a fantastic book full of coloured animals: a brown bear, a red bird, a yellow duck, a blue horse, a green frog, a purple cat, a white dog, a black sheep and an orange fish, with which children can learn in a fun way animals and colours.

Flashcards Tower

To review the vocabulary of Toys and Food, the 5 years old students have been building towers with flashcards. 

The tallest tower had 7 flashcards! Impressive!!

Let's fish!

The 3 and 4 years old students are now learning some food vocabulary and we have been working on the book "The very hungry caterpillar".

After telling the story, the students had to" fish" what I said to them, because I was veeery huuungry ;)

They love the story, and of course they love fishing food!

The Finger Family

The 5 years old students are learning vocabulary related to the family. To do so we have made some finger puppets to use with the finger family song.

They love it!
